I have a microphone I can't remember the type of, but it plugs into a 3.5mm jack, and I've only ever gotten it to work on XP. My laptops are updated to 11, so to get this mic to work I need to downgrade. But the laptop I want to use won't boot to USB, and I don't have any blank CDs anymore.
It's a compressor mic with XLR connections! I miiiiight get a USB microphone instead of downgrading Windows. We shall see.

I know what a compressor is, I know what a microphone is, but I have no idea what a "compressor mic" is.
As for your XLR mic, whatever it may be, an audio interface would work.
