Any remotely middleclass life is wasteful. I'm well aware that as one person, I generate too much waste, and use up more than my fair share of resources. To the US, to the manor born, and here we (I) am.

@gemswinc I spent a week in the hospital a couple years ago. Seeing how much was tossed just for me was horrific. They can't sterilize and re-use anymore out of liability fears. I now have several pairs of beautiful German-made hemostats. They just toss them.

And here I am checking every bit of packaging to find recyclable bits, using metal straws, cloth napkins...
