@Graci it's not really a question of which republican to me, though. because even though adam kinzinger speaks out against the rest of his party, he still considers himself a republican, a conservative. and i don't want someone like that in a cabinet that is going to need to continue making big changes to move forward.
it's as simple as, if you agree with the democratic agenda, then you're a democrat. it's not a dirty word. and everyone in the cabinet needs to be on board with the agenda.
@dietotaku @Graci no. this false party division, Us vs Them, needs to end. there are still a few actual Republicans (Kitzinger, Huntsman, etc) who are sane & should be offered jobs in a Dem administration, because compromise is how democracy actually works. just because the Qult has highjacked "conservative" doesn't mean they have any clue what it means. Eisenhower was a Republican conservative. FDR was a Republican conservative. we NEED that type of Republican back in office to move forward
@redenigma FDR was neither a Republican nor a conservative. 🤨 Eisenhower was a Republican but definitely not a conservative - both platforms in '56 were pro-civil rights, pro-unions, pro-welfare, etc.
the very definition of "conservative" is opposed to progress. how can you say that in order to move forward, we need someone holding us back?
@dietotaku that's the definition of conservative NOW, it didn't used to be. it used to be conservative in the sense of weighing value to expense, now it's complete knee jerk reactionism to any change
Almost every President going back to Franklin D. Roosevelt, and many before him, has chosen cabinet-level members from the other party–though in quite a few cases the party identification was fairly nominal. Of course Rs tended to pick conservative Ds, and Ds picked moderate and liberal Rs (as long as there were any).

@DavidSalo so i guess the question is, in which position could a kinzinger-style republican do the least damage?
she can appoint a republican to be secretary of balloon doggies.
@dietotaku I think Adam Kinzinger would say yes.
