what fuckery is coming down the pipeline next, siding with Louisiana on mandating the 10 commandments in schools?
@dietotaku you think spreading misinformation is a good thing? how can you think this is remotely akin to LA's 10 commandment nonsense?
@redenigma i think you misread something. biden has social media companies take down misinfo, conservatives claimed that was violating their free speech, SCOTUS sided with biden. so the ruling is a good thing, which is why i think some horrific fuckery is coming down the pipeline next (such as siding with LA's 10 commandments law)
@dietotaku ah! ok. yes, my misreading. however, this ruling was because the parties bring suit have no standing. if the LA law is challenged, it will be by the ACLU or non-Christian religious groups and/or atheists, all of whom would have standing because it harms them/their children
@redenigma seems like many of the ostensibly good rulings SCOTUS has made lately have only been on the grounds of lacking standing (see also: mifepristone ruling), which has me worried. feels like they're circling the spelling mistakes with red pen and telling the conservatives to try again.
@dietotaku that is exactly what they are doing
@dietotaku Once corruption becomes embedded, the corrupt do all possible to maintain corruption. It's very difficult to remove. This apparently is the Scotus goal. https://www.economist.com/the-americas/2024/03/07/corruption-is-surging-across-latin-america
