naturally this "travel expert" fails to consider that the primary reason people don't check bags is that it is NOT free. I'm paying $300 for a flight and $80 for a dingy cardboard motel bed, I'm not gonna throw away $50 in checked bag fees just to "float through the airport" to the luggage carousel where I have to wait for my bags with 50 other people who want to be anywhere but there.

@dietotaku the biggest problem with checked bags, I think, is the limit to your options should your flight get cancelled. When your bag is with you, switching flights or carriers is a breeze.

@dietotaku If only they'd take these ridiculous fees and put them toward maintaining their airplanes and removing overpaid and corrupt executives.
