The Coffee Pot fire started on August 3rd due to a lightning strike. It's over 6000 acres now and this is the first report of any containment. Yesterday they reported 3% containment. The yellow star on the images is where I'm located.

I smell the smoke early mornings when there is a fire nearby. It smells a bit different today. Makes me think it's now in the brush areas and not so much the timbers.

It is indeed morning. The firefighters at the camp across the road get an early start. It appears from last nights informational meeting that they have a solid plan to keep this one from getting out of hand.

Each plane picks up 1600 gallons at every pass and they're flying about 80mph when they are scooping. Each plane can drop 100,000 gallons per day onto a fire.

It's crazy how many people are in town this evening. It's a good thing for our little economy. πŸ’°

The last big fire here was in 2021. KNP Complex Fire burned 88,000 acres. Hoping they get a handle on this one.

Chill in the air this morning. What a relief. Fire camp is buzzing early before six over across the road.
