“People should not be surprised that we have broken another record. Humans continue to burn oil, gas and coal, so the climate continues to warm. It is a very well understood relationship. There is no silver bullet or magic fix for climate change. We know what to do: stop burning fossil fuels and replace them with more sustainable, #renewable sources of energy. Until we do that, extreme weather events intensified by #climatechange will continue to destroy lives and livelihoods.”
February was warmest on record globally, say scientists
Global average temperature for past 12 months highest on record at 1.56C above pre-industrial levels, data shows
The worst thing about these reports for me is that I've begun mentally adding "so far" to the end of these statements.
"February was the warmest on record globally ... so far." ☹️
Hardly any snow in NJ this year either. Mostly rain.

It's beyond the point where it could be fixed at all.
If we stop all fossil fuel use today, which is both impossible and inadvisable, greenhouse gases from other sources such as ocean and permafrost changes will continue to increase; which will increase those changes.
It's too little, too late. The pot's going to boil.

Curiously, the oil industry has spread those same exact talking point.
However, there are plenty of scientists that disagree with that doomerism, so maybe we should listen before they change their minds. We can still prevent some things from getting worse.
