11 almost 12 measured in at 5'7 3/4 last night. The nurse looked 3 times at his age then back at me in disbelief.
Yep.
Meanwhile 11 is like excited about officially taller than me.

I may need to raise cows again for puberty...

@damselfly59
You know what happens next? They start picking you up, simply because they can, at random times. This still happens with my 17 year old, he first started being able to do it at around 12 or 13, and I just roll with it now.

@janallmac 😂 thanks for the warning. He has lost interest in beating me in arm wrestling...thank goodness

@damselfly59
Mine are both into jujitsu and will just randomly start to try to put me in some sort of headlock and then I remind them if they break anything on me, who's going to do laundry or cook dinner or pay bills?

(They would never really hurt me, but they do like to use me as some sort of test dummy sometimes.)

@damselfly59 So, you know, watch out if you sign him up for martial arts. 😂

@janallmac No sweeping mom before the chores are done!
We need a influencer to turn jujitsu moves into exercise routines that double as house chores.

@damselfly59 @janallmac bathrooms might be a little confined for capoeira in my experience but it should help with dusting and picking stuff up in bigger rooms! 😆

jeepers he's at the start of puberty and he's 5'7? sounds like he's ginna be a very tall kid. Yeah, I'd grow lots of farm animals not just cows if I were you (goats, chickens, ducks and sheep). Plus I'd teach him how to fish). My youngest -23yo, eats for 3 ppl & is thin as a rail.

@Bliss we have begun the fishing- he loves the catching but not so hot on the eating ...yet.

Need to redo the chicken coop. I gave up a couple years ago as I lost too many to either racoons minks cougar or bigfoot.

@damselfly59
German Shepards And Sheep Dogs are excellent chicken protectors. There's also electronic fencing with variable perimeters and timers that work great on animals and pouchers alike. 😀

Finally, there's potatoes and other veggies you can grow that will fill him. I'm in an apt and I grow spinach, lettuce, herbs like basil, spring onions, hot peppers, and tomatoes in a couple of my windowsills, and oyster mushrooms in a closet cause my kiddo was eating everything in sight.

@Bliss great advice! Have doodles who are useless. Had electric fencing but think they got in through the wall the last time. I may do one of those trailer houses the next attempt. I can move it around the garden that way. And keep a dog in the harden with them.
We love veggies! How are you liking mushroom farming? I love that you aren't limited in your apt!

@damselfly59 love it all. I grew up on my grandparents farm, helping from age 5.

I saw those trailers that move with the chickens. Such a smart idea! You get your garden weeded and fertilized simultaneously.
