Stop posting nonsense.

1. It was by NO MEANS an assassination attempt.
2. Suspect did not have line of sight of Mr. Trump.
3. Over 400 yards away.
4. Weapon was NOT an “assault” style rifle.
5. The suspect fired no rounds.

@corlin it's a nitpick, but--weapon was an ak-47 lookalike wasn't it? Isn't that assault-style?

I will quote
@Render

The rifle is not an AK series rifle.

It's either a converted SKS or possibly a variant of the SKS Dragnov sniper rifle. Neither of those are related to the AK series rifles beyond all being Russian designs.

Neither the SKS nor the SVD are "assault rifles" no matter how the term is bastardized or interpreted.

Still two hours ahead of mainstream media.

@corlin @Render oh, interesting--thanks! I was curious yesterday why you'd put a scope on an AK-47 (which I believe is what I read in the early reports).

But it being at least in the neighborhood of a sniper rifle makes the scope more reasonable.

But regardless, it really does sound like trump was never actually in danger of being shot.

@corlin cf:

Suspect never had sight of Trump and did not fire shots at agent in apparent assassination attempt, says Secret Service chief

@rpardee @corlin
Ah, you DO have to be able to see something in order to shoot it😉

@corlin @rpardee
I don't understand
The SKS could be used at 3-400 yards
The SVD dragonov is useful up to 800 yard
My understanding was the accused was 3-400 yards from :Asshat:
So he was not at risk because of something other than the type of rifle?

@BrentSullivan @rpardee

Yes correct.
Rifle could, by a trained shooter hit a human sized target at 400 yards.

But he did NOT have line of sight.
Mr Trump would not have been in line of sight. Even if he continued to play.

@corlin @BrentSullivan @rpardee so how we understand this? Exploitation of a real incident? Something crafted for this timeline?

@LaurelGreen @corlin @rpardee
I could provide tons of conjecture, but no actual answers😆

@BrentSullivan @LaurelGreen @corlin heh--I'm interpreting it as yet another reason to advocate for common-sense gun control measures.
