We have had many discussions here on Guns.
We haven't resolved anything.
I can only state my preferences. And they might not be popular.

I am a gun owner.
Prohibitions don't work, regulation does.

I have never owned, nor would in the future own an "assault" type rifle.
Or any weapon chambered in 5.56 NATO.
They are just not that useful, except for active combat.

@corlin

I say tax ammo at fifty bucks a shell, with an exception for hunters, who get a dozen tax-free bullets upon producing a valid hunting license.

Save the brass on those to turn back in if you don't want to get taxed on 'em.

Hmmmm.

98% of the ammo I buy is for range shooting. It already is very expensive. For my long rille it runs $8.00 a pop. for match rounds.

I would not mind a tax, if I could get a rebate on range use.

@corlin

Yeah, you get taxed on anything you want to take off the range.

Also, ban ownership of semi-automatic weapons outside of law enforcement and the military. Fifteen years for possession.
