#CoSo, you folks have been amazing. I love that we can share insights in a frank & thoughtful way, & offer genuinely constructive feedback (see: my computer issues as of late, FINALLY resolved, & with no files lost after all, so huzzah!).
I've been tapped to do a 5-10 minute weekly video segment, summarizing key news stories & exploring the #Humanist angle in one.
Any thoughts about what works or doesn't work for you in that format? I'd love to sidestep rookie mistakes in a new-to-me medium.
Don't just do a talking head.
Do spend the time needed to do illustrations, animations, or informative graphics. If you must put in the talking head, put in one small corner of the screen.
You don't need fancy graphics.... even a simple line drawing will do.
Talking heads draw the soul out of viewers.
@corlin Ah, I missed the "just" in your first post.
Yes, I agree, static backgrounds are no good for this work. I'm hoping we can get the research/graphics team locked into the production workflow ASAP, so that when I submit a script on Monday, for recording early Tuesday, there'll be graphic content ready to plug in when I send back the video for quick release. Lots of kinks to work out, though, which is why I'm taking initiative, to get the ball rolling for us all.
Appreciate it, Corlin! 👌
