What's better than having two drummers in a rock band? Having two drummers on a rotating turntable, suspended sideways.

For your listening and viewing - uhhh - pleasure?

Here is Winny Puhh with "Meiecundimees üks Korsakov läks eile Lätti"

Here are some other Prefab Sprout cuts that are now in constant rotation in my playlists:

Code's eclectic music pick of the day:

I can't tell you how or why today's pick means so much to me. Not just this song, but all of this band's more recent efforts. They had huge hits in the 80's, yet never interested me. Then I heard this, and saw some interviews with the genius Paddy McAloon.

Try this haunting 22 minute song. If you dig it, check the albums since ~1990. Well worth the effort.

Here is I Trawl the Megahertz by Prefab Sprout.

It was hard to choose between this and Loro.

Code's eclectic music pick of the day:

Feeling blue today. Which is OK, it seems that melancholy is my natural resting state. So let's lean into some blues together. Here's Yusef Lateef on oboe playing Trouble in Mind. And check the rest of the lineup, doesn't get much better than this (The Cannonball Adderley Sextet).

For my somewhat pensive Saturday mood, here is Galatea's Guitar, by Gábor Szabó

Which in turn reminds me of one of my favorite short jokes. Maybe it will give a laugh to start your weekend:

I went to the zoo yesterday and all they had was a dog. It was a Shih Tzu.

I've never really wanted a Poodle as a pet. I'm sure there are great ones out there, but the only Poodles I've known seemed fairly high-strung.

But I do give them props for being the most ambitious players in dogdom. I mean, we've got Labradoodles, Schnoodles, Cockapoos, Goldendoodles, Maltipoos, Jack-A-Poos, Poochon, Bernedoodles, Pekapoos, Yorkipoos, Poogles, Eskapoos and 25 more hybrid breeds.

But if I had to pick one as a pet, it'd be a Shiht-poo.

Just so I could say it all the time.

James Morrison with a composition called "Snappy Too". James plays every instrument and every part in this piece except for the drums (but he could probably also swing that in a pinch)

Don’t do it!

You are as old as the person who lives inside you.

Dress accordingly.

Code's eclectic music pick of the day:

Yeah, OK, I've probably picked too many Jeff Lynne/ELO songs lately, but I feel like this short Dylanesque piece is largely unknown, and it contains a timely message.

So here is "Save me Now" by Jeff Lynne.

Birthday's coming up in around 6 weeks. Based on the number I'll be reaching, I am under the impression that I'll need to purchase some Sansabelt slacks and short-sleeve dress shirts to start wearing from that point forward.

I'll also have to start using the word "slacks."

I don't think I'm ready for this.

Code's eclectic music pick of the day:

48 years ago (!), this group released an album that fused baroque music with synth rock (and had nothing to do with Christmas). Initially the album was marketed to high-end audio stores, as the recording was a great test for amps and speakers, and provided a very dynamic experience for audiophiles. I'll never forget how it sounded on Klipschorns and 800 watt amps.

Here Mannheim Steamroller's "Toccata"

Code's eclectic music pick of the day:

Time to close your eyes for 2 minutes and 45 seconds, take some deep breaths and just chill. Unless you are, ya' know, driving or something.

And hey, while you're at it, maybe listen to Sinj Clarke's "Unas Horas", which happens to fit into that time slot perfectly.
