(btw, this is not the piece I was looking for... it's going to make me crazy trying to find it)

Day 3 of music week.

(Remember: You MUST listen to this with headphones to get any binaural effect.)

Here is I Want More by CAN, recorded using Kunstkopf (the ARTIFICIAL HEAD SOUND TECHNIQUE) :

Good morning friends. I just had the most realistic dream in years. It was crazy!

Day 2 of music week.

(Remember: You MUST listen to this with headphones to get the binaural effect. Also, binaural recording has nothing to do with "binaural beats")

Here is Otherside by Perfume Genius:

I will also add that binaural is not simply stereo recording with panning. The psycho-acoustic model captures subtle cues that your brain interprets as directionality, or singer/instrument placement. This means your brain will hear sounds from behind you, from above you, etc.
For an uncanny example, put on your headphones and listen to this:

A short discussion of binaural a couple of weeks ago made me think that maybe there are some out there who've not tried it. So this week's theme will be music.

Binaural is a special technique that records using a human head model. Playback sounds much more like "you are there"

However, to get the effect, you MUST listen on headphones. So put 'em on, close your eyes, and check out Amber Rubarth

Looks like it's going to be a stormy day and night, and right now it's very dark outside, even though almost noon. I generally enjoy gloomy days, and today's pick perfectly complements the overall feel. Here is the mesmerizing and wonderfully melancholy "Freeze" by Klaus Schulze

Today just feels like a Steven Wilson day. I'll be streaming Porcupine Tree for the rest of my morning, but for now, here is The Raven That Refused To Sing

From NuHussel Orchestra here is The Forest. If you enjoyed my previous Snarky Puppy or Tigran picks, you'll probably dig this... a very interesting group, indeed.

Poll to satisfy my Monday Morning Curiosity.

Have you had COVID-19?

@codeWhisperer @tgraph52

I had M & K Sat1A satellites, their Volkswoofer 2, a Denon D60 with a Signet TK-10 into a Hafler 220 pre to a Hafler DH 500 power amp. A kilowatt of power. and entire symphony orchestras in my living room--along with a whole bunch of kick ass rock n roll.

Do you have a favorite funny moment from Seinfeld? For me, the funniest is when Kramer disappears for about 40 seconds, then comes back and slaps down cash, saying "I'm out!".

Second favorite is this. It only lasts about 10 seconds, but it tickles me every time I see it. To the point that I sometimes feel compelled to reenact it while I am cooking:

Trillionth-of-a-Second Shutter Speed Camera Catches Chaos in Action

12 March 2023 By DAVID NIELD

Now scientists have come up with a way of achieving a shutter speed that's a mere trillionth of a second, or 250 million times faster than those digital cameras. That makes it capable of capturing something very important in materials science: dynamic disorder.
