@lfrum In Michigan it was similar with pasties (no, not the twirly sort). I still like to make a good, authentic pastie now and then, although suet can be harder to find these days.
Hopefully it comes with the oxygen-free tri-laminar AuCu positronically-loaded connectors.
Otherwise it's gonna sound crap.
@InUnfunky 🤣 😢
This is like a never ending fever dream.
WTF is it with the right's obsession with — of all things — straws?
A while back they were ranting about how "manly men" should not be using straws at all (ooh, those pursed lips!) , then these same people (mostly the same men, BTW) rant about the left wanting to get rid of "our" plastic straws and how terrible paper would be.
There is a legit mental illness at play here. A mind virus.
And I just don't get it.

I aim to stay true to myself, out of respect for authenticity, rather than bending to please others. This is my way of presenting my most genuine self.
Our lives are complex, and sometimes we do or think things that are unfathomable to others because we each live our experiences and find our truths in different places.
@john_b Tell that to a cesium atom. 😜
@tgraph52 Like full-groin hugging it? 🤣
@MrGoat Do not say anything bad about that movie.
@CJShaneArtBooks @corlin
Agreed! I actually had the same experience with The City and The City. I started it — twice — and felt bewildered enough to move on to something else. But then I picked it as our book club choice when it was my month, because I knew that would FORCE me to finish it. At about 35% through the book, there was finally a CLICK-ZOOM moment. After that it was an exhilarating read.
It became a favorite of most of those in our reading group, including myself.
@corlin I already have a pre-feeling about whether I'll enjoy it, but with Miéville involved, I've got to check it out! 🙂
@corlin Bought this after seeing the interview on Colbert (with China in the audience!) a couple days ago.
I posted a song from one of my favorite singers (Perla Batalla) a few days ago.
And wow. Got a surprise today.
Just found out she's releasing a new album on September 21, the day prior to what would have been Leonard Cohen's 90th birthday (she collaborated and sang with Cohen for more than 20 years).
This preview video was released 3 days ago. Here's her cover of "Democracy"
