Day 2 of #elophilia music week.
Here is Pugwash with It's Nice to be Nice
Some of the best blues ever recorded came from this guy (and his wife, who sometimes had to remind him of the lyrics while they were recording).

A confession: I love ELO. I love Jeff Lynne. So this is my #elophilia music week. Only I'm not gonna play any actual ELO. Just stuff that teases my cilia into ELO-adjacent sympathetic resonance.
To kick it off, here is L.E.O. with Distracted (from the album Alpacas Orgling)

Day 7 of #binaural music week.
(Remember: You MUST listen to this with headphones to get any binaural effect.)
Here is Matt Sucich playing “My Only Problem With You” as recorded at The Cathedral of Junk in Austin, TX. A fun listen AND also fun to watch.

Day 6 of #binaural music week.
(Remember: You MUST listen to this with headphones to get any binaural effect.)
From the album actually called "Binaural" here is Pearl Jam with Thin Air (to be fair, I suspect that only portions of this album were actually recorded using the binaural technique, but this song is still nice and reminds me how much I miss some of the grunge acts)

Day 5 of #binaural music week.
(Remember: You MUST listen to this with headphones to get any binaural effect.)
Here is a cut from Rachmaninoff: Symphonic Dances (Lento assai; Allegro vivace) by the Pasadena Symphony and conducted by Jorge Mester. If your headphones can handle it, this is a rewarding album. Caution: Be wary of the dynamic range here.

Day 4 of #binaural music week.
(Remember: You MUST listen to this with headphones to get any binaural effect.)
Here is Snakecharmer by Ottmar Liebert & Luna Negra:

Day 3 of #binaural music week.
(Remember: You MUST listen to this with headphones to get any binaural effect.)
Here is I Want More by CAN, recorded using Kunstkopf (the ARTIFICIAL HEAD SOUND TECHNIQUE) :

Day 2 of #binaural music week.
(Remember: You MUST listen to this with headphones to get the binaural effect. Also, binaural recording has nothing to do with "binaural beats")
Here is Otherside by Perfume Genius:
Code's eclectic music pick of the day:
A short discussion of binaural a couple of weeks ago made me think that maybe there are some out there who've not tried it. So this week's theme will be #binaural music.
Binaural is a special technique that records using a human head model. Playback sounds much more like "you are there"
However, to get the effect, you MUST listen on headphones. So put 'em on, close your eyes, and check out Amber Rubarth

gimme a high five-four.
Panzerballet does Take Five.

Looks like it's going to be a stormy day and night, and right now it's very dark outside, even though almost noon. I generally enjoy gloomy days, and today's pick perfectly complements the overall feel. Here is the mesmerizing and wonderfully melancholy "Freeze" by Klaus Schulze

Today just feels like a Steven Wilson day. I'll be streaming Porcupine Tree for the rest of my morning, but for now, here is The Raven That Refused To Sing
Code's eclectic music pick of the day:
From NuHussel Orchestra here is The Forest. If you enjoyed my previous Snarky Puppy or Tigran picks, you'll probably dig this... a very interesting group, indeed.
Code's eclectic music pick of the day:
From technical wizards Polyphia, here is Playing God
Code's eclectic music pick of the day:
Day 7 of #codingmusic. Kosmischer Läufer has a new album this month, "The Secret Cosmic Music of the East German Olympic Program 1972-83 Volume Five" that works well for my coding flow. Here is Nordlicht. (side note: I hear an faint echo of the Lost in Space season 3 theme phrase here at several points, so... nostalgia)
Code's eclectic music pick of the day:
Day 6 of #codingmusic. On high energy days, or days when truly in 'the zone', a switch to something high energy (where beats are ok, but still, no vocals for me). Something djenty, heavy, maybe complex rhythmically. Here is Origin by Anup Sastry.
Runner-up, The Woven Web by Animals as Leaders: https://youtu.be/CMj-j12Vxco

Day 5 of #codingmusic. Vangelis is special to me. Something about his phrasing is instantly recognizable. When he died last May, it hit me pretty hard, even though I knew him only through a love of his music (that Klaus Schulze had passed only a month earlier was like a double-whammy to my musical world). His mostly acoustic album Nocturne is beautiful, and great for coding day. Here is Mythodea - Movement 9
