Dear parents: your children are still watching you after they turn 18. Just cause they’re out of your house doesn’t remove your responsibility to them. Their choices are not yours, as you aren’t given a pass because you don’t approve. And crucially: you don’t get to turn your back on everything you taught them growing up, effectively destroying what they thought they knew about you and about life.

@tiaugn They are legally adults and if their parents haven’t taught them well by 18, I’m thinking being an example isn’t going to stop the rude, unstable and/or illegal behavior.

@cjcrew oh that’s not the behaviour I mean. Specifically here I was upset about the destruction of family bonds and hypocrisy in the parents actions

@tiaugn My mom called it the “Do as I say not as I do” method. It’s how I was raised.

@tiaugn Definitely not the best parenting method, but it did teach me that adult are as imperfect as kids.
