@GaryPoole I expect so. I walk into a gym and consider whether I'd take a hard fall on that floor. Sometimes I reflexively bow in when the floor changes from tile or carpet to wood...

Some beautiful photos of a gathering at the enormous Puʻukohalā Heiau by Kai. Puʻukohalā was one of the last temples — and a luakini (human sacrifice) heiau at that — constructed after a vision the seer Kapoukahi had. Kamehmeha would sacrifice his cousin, the Aliʻi Keōua, on the altar there to cement his control over the Big Island. Keoua arrived by canoe to Pelekane Bay and was immediately killed and taken as sacrifice. Details are grisly. Anyway, Puʻukohalā.

@DavidSalo In the dojo I have to counsel my more advanced students to perceive and challenge the juniors, not to overwhelm. They also need this perception when dealing with more advanced people, but the senior should set the level based on where the partner is. Each member of the pair might learn something different but they both learn something. The only advanced ones who are all like "I'm a shame dis beginner" are people coming in from other styles - so I have to make your point to them.
