Mogwai's vet visit today was rather....neutral. They did an Xray, and nothing showed up on that, which is good. No tumors, or masses or fluid in her lungs. Her heart sounds good, no murmurs. But no solid answer on what is causing her to honk/cough. We were given antibiotics for 8 days and the Dr is going to up her prednisone dose, then we go from there.

@Evereigh Is it after mealtimes? i know people with GERD cough because of that.

@chakaal Nope! There is no trigger for it. She'll be laying here, snoozing then starts coughing/honking. We are leaning towards a collapsed trachea, but they couldn't get her to cough WHILE doing the Xray, and that's the only way they can diagnose it, is to SEE it on the xray. So, if the antibiotics don't help, we gotta go back.

@chakaal @Evereigh

Came here to mention this. 3 out of 8 of my dogs needed long term GERD meds when they got older. Super helpful with the cough/gag. Got to the point where it was happening without eating.

OTC Zyrtec is used for dogs, BUT only the regular version. Not Zyrtec-D. We used generic (with the vet's blessing).

@Agatha @chakaal I'll defitnley bring this up if the antibiotics/steroids don't help!
