In autumn, our thoughts turn to the bountiful harvests and longer tables. Now, Trump has convinced his followers that everything is a zero-sum “deal.” If a woman, immigrant, person of color, or LGBTQ individual gets anything beneficial, it was clearly stolen from them. The abundance mentality has been kicked to the curb and Americans now fight bitterly over an imagined shrinking pie. Only by deporting, marginalizing, and terrorizing “others” can the “chosen” retain their share.
