Good news: I got a free sourwood tree sapling this morning at a community environmental event. Bad news: the instructions advise planting it TODAY and I have no clue where on my half-acre lot I want to plant it. It can grow 25+ feet high and 20+ feet wide. Solution: I’ve set it in a gallon sized pot with good soil and mulch and watered it and set it in a sunny spot until I figure out my plan. It’s supposedly well liked by pollinators and birds and provides hiding places for small wildlife.

@cassandra17lina 20+ wide? In a residential area?
I'd take out to a sourwood forest and plant it amongst its family. Go water it prn. Help your baby grow/live!
But, that's just me. I'm sure you'll find a great location and nurture it with love.

@Kittiekatt53 it will grow tall and strong in my back yard as long as I protect it from the deer.
