One of my dogs (Mr. Tan Man) has been dealing with recurring anal gland compaction, causing him discomfort and a host of related issues. Our veterinarian recommended two options: a small (spoonful) bit of pumpkin pie filling or a supplement called GlandEx, both of which add needed fiber and keep the problem from recurring and keep the secretions moving. So far, both dogs love the pumpkin which is evidently a “superfood” for humans too. #DogsOfCoSo

@cassandra17lina it shouldn’t be pumpkin pie filling, it should be canned pumpkin. Make sure you buy pumpkin only.

@cassandra17lina Good! I usually have a can or two on hand, it works for both constipation and diarrhea. Not as much a problem with the little dog as it was with my Rotties, but still it’s good to have on hand and if you don’t use it for the dog it makes good pumpkin bread.
