Welp, my grandson’s team did not prevail but he’s on the All Star team so he has another game soon. Hope everyone at these games heeds this sign.
@AndyM my stepson is one of the coaches and it makes the situation way too intense for the whole family. I really don’t think any of the coaches should have a kid in the game.
@AndyM @cassandra17lina I learned really early as a hockey parent that people are insane when it comes to their kids. Everyone is making the bigs at 6. Just enjoy it and let your kids enjoy it!
@John_Ripley @AndyM @cassandra17lina You are absolutely correct. And this one time, I was the parent placed on the opponents’ sideline making sure the substitution rules were followed, and a mom came up and was disparaging of my son’s team saying none of them would ever play in college. I said, “well, there’s one…” Bijan Robinson (then 7, just a few weeks ago drafted by Atlanta) was on my kid’s team.
@Boyceaz @John_Ripley @AndyM @cassandra17lina At that age it’s not supposed to be about winning and raw talent as much as learning and teamwork and fucking FUN!
@cassandra17lina My son played a lot of soccer as a teenager and I remember similar signs reminding the adults how to behave. ("This is not the World Cup"). Not that they always did. 😔
@LiseL @cassandra17lina My introduction to parents who are bad examples was my youngest brother’s Little League games. Couldn’t believe those people actually procreated.
@cassandra17lina I truly hated refereeing little league football at times. Actually had parents come on the field challenging calls and complaining. THE WORST
