Some of my family members have agreed to forego physical gifts and prefer donations to organizations that align with their values. My nephew and his girlfriend would like to support an organization that ensures reproductive rights. One idea they mentioned was the ACLU (which I already support) but I’d prefer an organization closer to the “front lines” directly helping individuals. Any suggestions?

Food Not Bombs is a great organization that helps people around the world. Very much boots on the ground. they have challenges because some cities don’t want homeless people around. they’re feeding people good vegan food anyway. it doesn’t matter, homeless or not, if you want a meal, it’s yours. There are no strings attached, like some places who exchange food for indoctrination. They also don’t discriminate between those who might be on drugs or alcohol. They feed everyone

@cassandra17lina it is. The guy who started it recently lost a guy in the community. It was a young homeless man who had helped and who had a podcast, trying to find solutions, even though he was homeless. He’d interviewed FNB just before he was killed.

Anyway… they really are good people.

Another one I can think of is One Spirit
She helps kids on the Pine Ridge Indian reservation.. the poorest In The country. She works with youth and horses and particularly those who are at risk for suicide.

@cassandra17lina I mention these because they’re both Direct Action

@cassandra17lina I prefer grass roots organizations and direct action organizations
