I’m always fascinated by this bench featuring two female creatures with the body of a lion or similar animal, the wings of angels, and distinctly human faces, hair, and… mammaries… outside the church where I give blood. I wonder whether a donor wanted it installed as a condition of their financial support.
@researchbuzz Interesting! Thanks. WhenI think of harpies, I think of shrill females…
@Foxthorn That is fascinating and more than a little disturbing. Thanks!
@Foxthorn all I want to know is what the heck this bench is doing at a Methodist church. Admittedly, I am no religious scholar but…
@cassandra17lina I mean a mythological monster that bites people's heads off....sounds very old testament. I am not a Christian but I was raised methodist and I feel like we were the least fervently religious members of my family (the rest of my family is catholic and baptist).
@cassandra17lina @Foxthorn I would be tempted to go to the the thrift store, get a couple of bikini bathing suits, and give them bras. See if anyone notices. 😂
@researchbuzz @cassandra17lina LOL I would probably paint on some nipples and blood dripping from the mouth...but I'm going to Hell...this is already an established fact.
@Foxthorn @cassandra17lina Entirely possible! I am not a mythology expert.
@Foxthorn @researchbuzz @cassandra17lina
Looks more like a Griffin to me.
@cassandra17lina Cool.
Www.myfavouritebench.com or on the bird site @myfavebench would probably like to see this.
@cassandra17lina I know blood supply is very low, but resorting to “sexy” statues in front of churches?!?
@mikeharmanos best answer yet!
@cassandra17lina You're out at the coast, yeah? I think those are harpies. I think they're symbolic for wind and storms.
