I find myself in a bit of a moral quandary. I refused to buy EA Star Wars Battlefront 2 due to their loot box related issues. Refused to give EA money for their bullshit. However, someone got it for my son for Christmas. So now, I feel bad because I want to play it, mainly the single player.

@carver their loot box issue is dumb, sure. The game is still good. Much better than the first one they did, and still much worse than the original battlefront 2. But it's still good. A lot of people complained that the boxes were too hard to get with regular currency, which is total BS. I played maybe 3 matches and was able to buy 4 boxes. The single player is fun and engaging. Multiplayer sucks without cards

Call me jaded, but Activision spends most of their budget on advertising. Not developing CoD. Which will sale even without advertising. Same with Battlefront. Activision reported $2+ billion PROFIT. EA over $3 billion in profit. I don't think they really need to raise prices. Besides, with season pass BS, the price is already above $60.

That said, I don't explicitly hate all loot boxes. Overwatch for example has provided several free characters and maps. Throwing a bit extra money at them doesn't seem terrible (though I think their loot box system needs some changes to how you get duplicates). Or Rocket League. It is cheap and it was given to me free on two platforms. Don't mind throwing money their way. But BF2's system shrieks of greed, since their was also a season pass and no promised free updates.

@carver @Heucuva8 @Kit the problem I have with overwatch boxes is the distinct lack of currency you get. some of the coolest, time-limited skins cost 3000 credits, and you get maybe 150 in one box if you're lucky. 500 if you win the damn lottery. twice.

Yeah, that is my big complaint too. And my wife complaining that all she gets is duplicates. Think they should up the credit rewards and make it where you don't get dupes. If you were getting a dupe, get credits instead.

@carver @Heucuva8 @Kit they already give credits instead of dupes, afaik. the issue is the credit amount is next to nothing, and would require you to spend money on boxes to either get what you want, or get enough credits to buy what you want

The do, I was saying I wish you just got the pile of gold, instead of seeing a skin you already have and the "Oh here's a consolation prize".
