My father in law passed away in December. I'm the executor of the will, and still trying to live in the house he owned.
Man, the amount of paperwork involved with this crap is tedious.

@carver

I hear ya! My dad died in November 2014, my Mom in November 2017 naming me as executor.

_Later this month_ I will finally get the check from TIAA for the hundred bucks they failed to pay my Mom when my Dad died.

Nearly two and a half years of phone calls, voice menus, forms notarized and sent, more phone calls, and more forms. And this is with TIAA's outstandingly helpful customer service people. I hate to think what I would have gone through if they were sullen and uncommunicative.

@Dobo yeah, both of my parents passed years ago (dad was 1999 and mom was 2008). Wasn't the executor, but I know it gets rough. Sorry for your loss and your headache.

@carver

Thanks. I'm kinda over both the loss and the headache. Unless that damned check doesn't come as promised. 😠

It's my last outstanding executorial responsibility.

Hope yours goes quicker and smoother than mine.
