I know this is not the end of this. This is hopefully the beginning of us getting back to where we thought we were.
And now all we can do is hope that the systems and institutions that run our elections are strong enough to resist this administration's attempt to wrest control from the democracy we have left.
Every now and then I need something that reminds me about who we are.
I go back to Election Night 2008.

After 8 years we had worked to get people to vote and get our government back.
Now here we are 12 years later, after 4 years of anxiety, stress and even this year of nightmares, possibly on the cusp of starting our way back to what we were that night.
Last minute cancelations of virtual meetings have been killing my productivity today.
Three meetings on the calendar canceled today AT THE LAST MINUTE!!!
And that turns any time spent preparing for the meetings into pointless busy work.
If I'm not going to be productive, I might as well post things on the internet... right?
Just getting to this week's Last Week Tonight. In the opening segment they talked about all the Whitehouse things they didn't have time to talk about.
Me: Oh, yea. All that did happen in just the last week.
- His Taxes
- FLOTUS being anti-Christmas
- The debate
- The WH C19 outbreak of now at least 22
And I don't ever think that was everything.
Today one of my boys' university sent a note that they detected the virus in one of the dorms. This is why we did not send him back to UNC Charlotte for the semester. The school just went back to on-campus mode this week. Thankfully he is still here in Virginia Beach and not dealing with a dorm outbreak in Charlotte.
So many possible things popping up with Trump being positive.
- Constitutional issues/crisis being if he gets sick
- National security issues whatever chaos this causes
- Election issues should he start demanding the election be postponed
- Continuity issues given we are talking the top end of the US government here
- Health issues as his base processes what is happening
- And all of us who are going to be upset if I can't vote AGAINST him.
- Whatever it is he might be using this news as cover.
I'm really not all that interesting, unless you consider the coffee-fueled mania that is the day-to-day struggle of my love affair with data interesting.
