An accidentally created tradition/ritual happens when I open a new bag of coffee beans. All the coffee drinkers in the house get to enjoy the "first breath" the coffeentakes when I first open a new bag.
Always amused that the most popular images in my Flickr account are stupid visualizations of how I used to use social media.

Wife is now cooking dinner following a recipe from a Google home. It is not going well as she's yelling at the device.
I felt the need to deploy the emergency chocolate. She almost knocked the bag out of my hand going for the first piece.
I left two more pieces on the table and quietly left the room.
Coronavirus has a 6 foot minimum safe distance. What we have started to lovingly call a gravy moment sends everyone into the next room and maybe even cowering under our beds.
That feeling when you want another shot of espresso but your wife is in a video meeting and doesn't want to mute the mic. It is not my fault the grinder is that loud.
Just getting back from a rush trip from VB to Charlotte and back today to get my son who goes to school there.
He was trying to stick it out in his dorm but the writing was on the wall...they would be closing the school soon.
That message, that the dorms would close, hit while we were on our way there.
Thankfully we were already on the way.
Standing st my desk going through the end of day updates on pandemic prep and WFH from work when I suddenly realize I'm sweating; beads of sweat are dripping onto my keyboard sweating.
And my watch is showing my heart racing.
Its 70F outside and the house thermostat downstairs says it is 73F in the house.
I've been working so focused today I didn't realize I probably should have put the air on earlier.
You know, like when I pulled that espresso shot 20 minutes ago in the kitchen.
Don't know if I'm just overworked, nostalgic or just lonely today.

Trying to decide how I want to book time this morning. While sitting up with insomnia at 3 AM, I get a question from an offshore coworker. Finished answering his questions over 3 hours. I then asked if he actually expected an answer from someone flagged as Off Work at 3AM local time on a US holiday.
So I guess work owes me a half day holiday.
I'm really not all that interesting, unless you consider the coffee-fueled mania that is the day-to-day struggle of my love affair with data interesting.
