I'm trying to decide if Chao's resignation is not wanting to be part of the 25A discussion, or if this removes a conflict of interest in the Cabinet acting on 25A, because it keeps Mitch's hands clean, and allows him to support the move.
@naikarrah @butch If Mitch wanted Trump removed he could have coordinated with the House leadership, not adjourned the Senate last night through the third week in January, and awaited the delivery of articles of impeachment from the House.
@naikarrah @butch The Georgia runoff election hasn't been certified yet (hasn''t even been fully counted yet) so I think Mitch is still Sen. Maj. Leader until the D's have a majority. In any event, Mitch was Sen. Maj. Leader last night when he called for the Senate adjournment for two weeks. Mitch could call them back if he wanted to, but that's a proactive step as opposed to them already being in regular session.
@naikarrah @butch Mitch may not stay around very long once he loses his gavel. He and Elaine may find some other way to grift.
@KathyFox @butch
lobbying, consulting, and speaking are only lucrative IF you are not closely linked with a lunatic traitor and an truculent Congress/political party?
Many, MANY business organisations and corporations have spoken out clearly prior to this rebellion AND afterward too. I have grave doubts about Mitch's value in those markets atm.
@naikarrah @butch I hope so. But there's always Elaine's family connections in China. Also, I think it depends on what happens next with the Republican Party--will a new, center-right party with principles emerge out of the ashes and permanently disempower tRump enablers like Mitch and Elaine?
@butch
the answer to that is probably a simple, "yes".
