I am so amazed at all the tools that are available for free these days, that you used to have to pay money for when I was a kid. Blender and Godot were unheard of, and if you wanted to do 3d modeling you either paid $1000 for an educational license of 3D Studio Max or pirated it on an iomega zip disk. Even educational licenses of compilers and IDEs were over $100. Now all of these tools are completely free or near free for learning.

@ninlar The subscription model is taking over everything it seems for a lot of software. I hate that part.

@bmacmixer yes I have noticed that. I'll praise Game Pass for its $17/mo price tag and huge games collection, but then spend 6 months playing Fallout 4 which I could have bought outright for less.
