@mikeflstfi when manually winding an automatic watch, to get it started before wearing, is there a recommended amount to wind? Should one every wind all the way until they feel resistance on the spring? #watches

I've read a couple of different methods. Some say just shake the watch until the automatic winding works winds enough to start the watch. This works for any automatic that doesn't support hand winding.
My watches all support hand winding and I typically will put between 30 and 40 winds in it before putting it on.
You can't over-wind an automatic watch, so there's no harm in doing this.

@mikeflstfi I had my Speedmaster Professional serviced by an authorized Omega dealer and the guy there was amazing - worth the money for a 54-year-old classic. He also let me watch a bit of the disassembly and cleaning. I'm a nerd and would love to have the tools to perform some watch repairs or servicing. #watches

That's the beauty of these mechanical watches. Given a good service on a regular basis, they'll run forever.
