Preparing to go to an extended family get-together today. Rather than looking forward to seeing loved ones, all I can do is cringe at the anticipated dysfunction.
My kid will be misgendered and deadnamed, my closeted Trumper relative will test my patience with his outrageous comments, and I'll be mansplained by another to the point of wanting to scream.
I could use some strength to hold off from telling them all how I really feel about them.
@NikkiBuschEdit I’m late seeing this. Haven’t quite transitioned from the bird app yet. But I wanted to offer my belated support and kudos. I am really impressed that you were able to do this!! After growing up with a lot of toxicity and surviving an emotionally abusive marriage, Trump and everything he unleashed, rising antisemitism, AND the pandemic, I’m more traumatized than I realized. My boundaries have to be tight, tight, TIGHT! Just to survive.
