When people try to point out "things left and right can agree on" it tends to be broad, ill-defined language that means quite different things to different people. For instance, when Republicans say "We're against corruption," what they often mean is "Democrats win too much, and the only way we can explain it is by attributing their wins to corruption, without any real evidence." What they certainly don't mean is "There's too much corporate money bribing politicians."
