The way I understand it, the steroid treatments help to suppress the inflammation in the body and ally the symptoms somewhat. IT also brings with it a sense of power and euphoria and serious restlessness and energy.
Once the steroid party-time ends, he's still smack dab in the middle of serious disease..
Could be. However, I think it's purely mental, he feels empowered, glad he survived, ( he is germophobe), he wants to believe he 'conquered' the virus and is using this to feed his narcissistic paranoia, delusion of grandeur and for electoral gain, to prove he's been right all the way.
