Can anyone recommend monitor privacy screen filters?
I have two 22” monitors that it’s has been recommended to put filters on them since I work with HIPAA protected info. Would be reimbursed thru company.
@IrelandTorin I do not own the monitors so I can’t disassemble them. They’re company-owned.
@annamuneca Ah, I sometimes forget white-collar workers have to deal with a lot more of those kinds of restrictions than I do as a skilled blue-collar professional. That's gotta suck :(
Disassembling and fixing company-owned things (mostly mechanical rather than IT, but I have had occasion to disassemble and fix electronics too) is part of my job, so I don't think much of it.
@IrelandTorin no worries! If they were my own monitors I’d consider it.
@annamuneca 3M makes monitor privacy filters.
@annamuneca There is actually a DIY solution to this... you can remove the polarizer layer from an off-the-shelf LCD monitor. I'd recommend practicing on the worst monitor you can find at the thrift store before attempting it on anything nice, though.
You'll need a pair of polarized glasses to see what's on your screen if you do that. Everyone else will just see solid white.
