Since I was told to take bereavement today I’m off with no plans. The weather is blustery with some snow coming & the winds are supposed to pick up, too. It’s the perfect weather to make ATK’s Best Beef Stew. Just need to pop in to the grocery store for a few things.

Personally, I'd use Worcestershire sauce in place off the anchovies... Some cornstarch premixed into a bit of cold water to make a slurry to thicken... And finally Kitchen Bouquet for both a bit of flavor but moreso color...
I like a thicker stew...
But nice none the less.
@InvaderGzim it’s like a chicken mulligatawny - always better the longer it sits.
I always add Worcestershire sauce & soy sauce before I add any salt because it adds layers of flavor.
It can be an expensive recipe so I haven’t experimented with it much.
