Well shit I have iron deficiency.
@annamuneca oh shit I have way more deficiencies than iron
@annamuneca Oh no! Fortunately for you, there are iron supplements you can get OTC to help with that :)
IIRC ferrous bisglycinate is the best kind of iron supplement. Also, I seem to recall something about Vitamin C helping increase iron absorption.
@IrelandTorin that’s exactly the type of iron supplements recommended for bariatric patients! Was just looking at ordering some.
@annamuneca I believe that's what's recommended for everyone - better absorption, and less GI irritation.
I recommend trying to find some that include Vitamin C - that'll further improve absorption efficiency :)
You could also just take Vitamin C (or eat food containing it) at the same time, but that's likely to be less cost-effective.
@IrelandTorin I think we have some vitamin C in the house but it’s pretty inexpensive anyway. It’s worth the cost versus having to go get iron infusions.
@annamuneca make sure you take care of you. Especially if it's easily mitigated. :):):)
@annamuneca I’ve struggled with that over the years too. There is a terrible tasting liquid iron from the co-op that worked well for me. Can’t remember the name but can check next time I’m there.
@yogapaddlerun decide to but an iron fish to see if it does anything helpful. I’m sure spouse would benefit from it, too.
@annamuneca Let me know how those go! I’m curious.
@yogapaddlerun I’ve been curious for a while and now I figure is the perfect time to give it a try.
@annamuneca glad everything else was normal though....
@_Hunter me too. I do get concerned about pap results & HPV since I have known too many women to have cervical cancer discovered almost too late.
@annamuneca early detection is important. I am old enough I need to start having a camera crew investigate my insides..
My goal now is to raise my levels using diet & supplements so as to avoid having to do an iron infusion because they appear to be expensive.
Already put bariatric iron supplements on monthly order which should help my adherence.
