@KamloopsBob Oh absolutely -- thanks for letting folks know!
This year's turkey has been acquired.
I stood there staring at the selection for what seemed like an inordinate amount of time. Which one of these birds deserved a good home? That one there looks like an asshole. This other one looks stubborn. Yet others I'm sure would have been passable, but I knew the moment I saw it which one was mine.
It was sitting in a corner of the freezer bay, untouched by the others and looking quite rejected.
I'm sure I saw it smile when I added it to the cart.
@estherschindler <nods editorially> Voice matters; more broadly, voice EXISTS despite the best efforts of many technologists to misunderstand or ignore it.
(My workplace, for example, insists on bumping its head on that problem over and over -- pushes the in-house folk who write to sound "academic" [really just dry and featureless], then can't figure out why they so often take a backseat to competitors that sound human... or to the bits of voice that do sneak out in our stuff.)
@kel Words cannot describe how much I need this saga this week
@Halcyon Oy vey! Stay safe. Exhausting indeed.
@Reciprocity Possibly. Looks from radar like it's mostly north of where I am so far, but that second wave heading in off the coast... whew. And already my surge suppressor sings the song of its people...
@JGSchaeffer Blowing and lights flickering in Seattle so far...
@Reciprocity Starting to kick in over here. Do not want.
Hey PNW CoSonauts -- stay safe tonight. The #BombCyclone is not here to play. #wx
@DavidSalo Same. Treating #bluesky as a passive / likes-only information source may be giving Tragedy of the Commons, but it would be the sensible thing to do.

@Jorro The rain is... inconvenient. Now ask me how I feel about the bomb-cyclone winds...
@AnnetteTRemain You know, I thought I'd miss daily WaPo reading far, far more than I do. Glad to be a *former* subscriber.
@codeWhisperer Funny thing -- that "voter drive" he did just before the election really whiffed to me of exactly that sort of program -- not the specifics of the activity but the mechanisms (at least the ones that were publicly noted). A light reworking... would that be so surprising?
@Liliki @catlynne333 Precisely this. I wasn't here yet but IIRC things got weird when the US thought Russia had a solid foothold 90 miles away in Cuba. How would that work with them just down the highway?
Formerly @agunn and @agunn_at_work on that dead bird site, but free of the fouled nest. Hi there!
