Poland's formal request to Germany for permission to send five MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine has been given the green light. According to German rules, the weapons that it sells require approval from Berlin if the receiving country wants to send them on to a third country.

These should be ready to fly without a lot of training.
These are interceptors.
But the missiles these carry are old, and NOT fire and forget.
Shorter range, and must illuminate a Russian airframe the whole way.
