I like it here :) I don't know why I ever went fully back to bird site.. I guess the rage cycle is more addictive than I thought... But after being here more over the last week and a bit my behaviour over there has changed too.. time for more gentleness in the world and more self care... It's been good for my mental health too

Thank you for your good influences 😘

@Zailrand glad to hear it :) <3 this place has the same kind of effect on me. it's nice.

@Zailrand all of our mental healths have suffered. Just since covid even.. I had to stop posting anywgere completely at times. I would spiral down on topics so alarming panic wasn't far behind. I asked my doctor for zoloft and I can actually be online again. I can't stress enough for people to make mental health a priority. πŸ’™

@ucantstop_me Yes, I totally get that. And glad the Zoloft has helped you - it's called Sertraline here and it's been v helpful to me for the last few years alongside counselling and the process of self acceptance... Hell of a journey though . Take good care of yourself x

@Zailrand The rage cycle IS addictive! I hope this site selects for people who appreciate the broad benefits of taking a breath. Filters also help with this, I find.

@Helical_Code TY. I'm not using any filters in here atm - I like the randomness and no algorithm-ness of the firehose and I've not found the same levels of unpleasantness and anger here which I think is what sucks one into the rage cycle in t'other place ...

@Zailrand I agree that the framework here is the main thing. The difference is bracing and embracing.

I didn't implement any filters in my first week. I was so upset about contents of the SCOTUS leak yesterday that I wanted to change the mix of what I was seeing. My filters didn't eliminate any topics, but got me where I needed to go.

Related to your profile: I LOVE wool. If you have a lead on a Cormo fleece, I'm all ears.

@Helical_Code hmmmm... They're not common in the UK (where I am) and I think the postage could be a killer! This is our equiv - not tried it though as I prefer chunky rathr than fine spinning ..finisterre.com/blogs/broadcast

@Helical_Code didn't realise the Cormo had Lincoln Longwool in its breeding - they are one of my fave fleeces to work with ❀️

@Zailrand I've never spun Cormo, but have had Cormo yarn and it was just wonderfully soft and bouncy. I have done a little bit of long wool spinning, and I think there's some of it in the border of my favorite shawl. I keep meticulous records in my professional life, but am not so careful when it comes to chronicling what I've spun and where it ended up.

@Helical_Code I'm pretty rubbish at record keeping too but my wool recognition skills are excellent so I can wax lyrical about the various fleeces that made things... I love to spin straight from the fleece and longwools are pretty challenging to do that with - but it's very satisfying too and the lustre is lush ❀️❀️

@Zailrand What a neat article! Genetics is one of my favorite topics, and while I understand that the writer was writing for a more general audience, I would have been fascinated to hear more about the genetic considerations!

@Helical_Code Lol, sheep genetics is v interesting.. I'm sure I've read a more in depth article about those Beaumont Merino genetics... I'll put it on mind search :) History of the development of different UK longwool breeds (wensleydale, teeswater, Lincoln, BFL) is cool too...

@Zailrand It's been just a little over a week since I joined CoSo.
Best thing I've done for my mental and emotional health in years.
Relearning that one is able to make a statement one time and that is enough. No sense in rage posting all day long to make a point.
The difference being that we feel seen and heard here. Over there we scream into a void. Whisper here and someone will reach out. πŸ€—

@Krysdammit Yes, the actual conversing has a lot to do with it :)
