I'm glad we have a VP pick folks. But the effusive praise and hero-worship. "His eyes! His smile! He's a hero for the people!" is getting ridiculous.
It feels like we're engaging in a practice of assigning marvelous characteristics to any bag of skin we're _told_ is ours.
That's how you get people who are utterly unconnected to you in office. By assigning qualities based on desires instead of observation.
If the cartoon of Walz is all you see, the real one doesn't have to do shit.
It's a rally.
Yes it is!
Make peace with rallies. π
Amen.
Maybe it's just been so long since I took a leap of faith on a politician and wasn't disappointed, I'm being unable to enjoy in the moment, that we might actually have decent folks we can support just because they're worth supporting, instead of because the other choice is madness.
But then, the other choice is still madness, so having the new ones actually be nice is just extra encouragement!
@AskTheDevil @YouInMyEye @LnzyHou
It does feel odd (carefully avoiding 'weird') to have hope that decent, caring, and intelligent candidates, with integrity, are being presented for our approval.
Not "the lesser of two evils", but actual good people.
Please, please, π, let this be real.
I will also pray, for all the good it does.
Have I mentioned I campaigned for Obama?
@YouInMyEye @LnzyHou I'm just the sort of person that runs around saying "remember, thou art mortal". ; )
But yes. I'm actually glad we have someone folks are excited about. And since at this point, I keep saying that I'd vote for a hamster over Trump, someone that people get this excited over is way better.
Not everyone likes hamsters.
I am hoping that this energy is enough not to just beat MAGA this time, but to start making actual progress towards good things for a change!
