Shawn Lane - Epilogue (for Lisa) (New Daisy Theatre - 19th Nov 92)
Yes. Quite a pianist.
More than his shredding I love his musical sensibility.
@YouInMyEye technique with abysmal timing and note selection is useless.
@YouInMyEye on his first CD the keyboards playing is faster than the guitar playing.
@YouInMyEye
An extraordinary talent!
I was lucky enough to see Vai, Satriani, Gilbert, some blonde guy, and Lane play a show at the NAMM convention (in 1990something). They each played a couple songs with Simon Phillips on drums and a bass player who I cannot recall his name. Lane's playing made the other dyanmos look like amateurs. They all joined to play Jeff Beck's Goin' Down as a finale. A show I will never forget. So many notes!!!
How were you at the NAMM show? Are you in the business... or did you just get the ticket? Another words, who are you? 😬
@YouInMyEye
Well, grasshopper, I'm just a girl who appreciates guitar as an instrument and will enjoy the playing of those who put the time in...only rule is it must be in tune.
I was an EP for a few bands, none famous but very talented and innovative.
Just call me a music luvah.
From your posts, I can tell we have similar tastes.
Ah... Yes, yes, I think so too. I've been to NAMM show once in Chicago. Anyhow that's impressive. NAMM show and Lane on top of it! 👍
@YouInMyEye
He blew my mind. And he turned down in comparison, which says a lot.
Cheers, YIME!
Yeah, he blows my mind every time I hear him. What a loss... More than his shedding, I love his musical sensibility... Too bad... RIP
@YouInMyEye
Indeed, he was original. A tragic loss.
@YouInMyEye shawn sounded more like Terje Rypdal on this tune.
Wow... I haven't heard that name in a very long time (I guess I haven't gone through my LPs in a long time 🙄 )... Yes, I hear that.
@YouInMyEye a unique guitar stylist and multi-instrumentalist.
