I'm fine with Whoopi. I love her to death.
But in the end, so what?
The idea the meme is pointing at is the foolishness of idolizing the affluent.
They have more entertainers on than I prefer, but it's a talk show. 🤷🏻♀️
I mean, I watched Talk Soup religiously in the Golden Age of TV Talk Shows. The View is pretty normal by comparison.
@Cosmichomicide
As far as talk shows go, I liked Tomorrow With Tom Snyder many years ago.
Other talk shows have nothing for me. Big shots running their mouths is not what I would call entertainment.
My mom watched Mike Douglas religiously. His shows had a wide variety of guests, his topics and questions were relevant, and he didn't make fun of people. And late night has always done a solid job.
I blame Jerry Springer.
I'm old enough to have watched them all including Jack Parr.
Its all bread and circuses intended to sell commercial time and nothing more.
@Cosmichomicide
With further consideration:
If someone were to take some average everyday folks and put them on a show like The View, the day after the first show those folks would no longer be average and everyday folks. They would be celebrities.
And that is the problem I see with the meme.
But I do like the sentiment.
Also, the meme pretty much describes every reality TV show.
@Xponent_Rob
Whoopi went from public housing to mortuary cosmetician to an EGOT.
Self made woman perhaps.
Over 28 years, The View has had a lot of co-hosts. And it's fine for them to be successful.
Meghan McCain, OTOH...
