Why, oh why, do they feel the need to make a system like this so "sterile" and "pretty." Aquaponics with fish have been in use for generations around the world.
“Mimics part of nature’s metabolic cycle; ammonia, which is the waste of the fish, is pumped up to the garden where the substratum of plant roots dispose it into nitrates and nitrites and takes it up to grow fast.”
I'm more put off by the apparent necessity for eye protection when you approach the thing.
Ya what is that ?
Some kind of AR thingy ?
My guess was that the light they use for their tiny "garden" is high UV.

Yeah, I spent some portion of my time walking on the tops of dikes between rice fields full of water, rice plants, and fish when I was on pilgrimage.

The simultaneous cultivation of rice and fish is thought to be over 2,000 years old. Ancient clay models of rice fields, containing miniature models of fish such as the common carp, have been found in Han dynasty tombs in China
