There's a kind of particularly hideous person who believes that everybody is weak and venal and motivated by cash, and that if you wave enough dollars at them you can get them to do whatever you want.
These same people simultaneously, though not at all consistently, believe that anyone who can't be bribed is a damned fool.

@Xenofact If we're making mistakes in the future, that's a good problem to have. It implies we are still present to have oopses.
You have to be smart enough to imagine the future and dumb enough to know the mistakes we'll make there.
