here is an interesting story.
This guy definitely broke the law in the U.S.
If he was living in the U.K. he wouldn't be breaking the law..
What should be the age of consent.
Most of my life I've felt it should be around 16, but yeah, this is a bit creepy...
@XSGeek
Another way to describe a teenager is "an inexperienced adult". They are capable of doing everything else an adult can. What they lack is a history of failures, learning experiences, etc. This leaves them vulnerable to exploitation.
Now, many grown-ups are also vulnerable to exploitation, some even after experiencing failures. We develop laws to protect people from financial exploitation. Doesn't stop it - if it did I would have less people worried about my extended car warranty.
@XSGeek I kinda like the way Texas has it setup. Not super complicated, allows for some edge cases.
I feel like there's such a range of maturity and sexual experience at the 16-18 age, it's hard to find a good fit that offers enough protections without stepping on sexual liberty. Seems LGBTQ+ community members often favors a 16ish age of consent, but I often feel like it's backed by... a difference in communal experience of sexuality and sexual education?
