Five minutes on Google tells me that Article I Section 10 of the U.S. Constitution probably prohibits from imposing state sanctions on . But ultimately that will be up to a court to decide.

Some states direct where their investments go, but that's different from imposing sanctions.

For those who missed it earlier, today's House Speaker Lollapalooza is now on my News from the Past YouTube channel at:

youtube.com/watch?v=dPN8Caht75

From : Governor Ron DeSantis to call state legislature back into special session to discuss the conflict.

Apparently he wants the state to level sanctions on Iran, as if that would make a difference.

(Pretty sure that would be unconstitutional ...)

Bobby Kogan, an analyst at the Center for American Progress, a center-left think tank, has found that the Bush and Trump tax cuts and their bipartisan subsequent extensions have added $10 trillion to the national debt so far. Republicans have blamed higher spending under Biden, including the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan passed by Democrats in 2021.

From : U.S. payments on debt interest increased to $659 billion this year.

"Within three years, if interest rates remain elevated, payments on the debt could become the second-largest federal program β€” behind only Social Security, which provides pensions for tens of millions of seniors, analysts say."

I also think this pretty much puts an end to the Georgia Republican legislators who are trying to have Fani Willis removed from office for doing her job. Three defendants now have pleaded guilty, including two pretty big fish. When the accused say they're guilty, then clearly she's doing her job so where's the justification for removing her? (2/2)

Personal speculation about Powell and Chesebro cutting plea deals ... Even drunk on his butt, Rudy Giuliani has to realize he is seriously screwed. These two will testify as to what he was doing with .

Giuliani needs to cut a deal and fast. I think he's No. 2 on the DA's wanted list behind Trump. If he cuts a deal, he ceases to be a target and will get a much gentler sentence than what awaits him after a conviction. (1/2)

From : House speaker vote rejects Jim Jordan for a third time, this time rejected by 25 Republicans.

Republican conference is having a private meeting at 1 PM EDT. Jordan says he's not backing down; the conference may vote him out anyway.

The on Sidney Powell pleading guilty in exchange for testifying against other January 6 conspirators ...

She was supposed to go to trail with Kenneth Chesboro. He declined a plea deal, so his jury selection begins tomorrow.

The ones who plead out first usually get the best deal. Now that Cheseboro has seen what he missed, will he plead out or go to trial anyway?
