This popped up today in my Facebook feed from nine years ago ... Back then, I was leading tours of the Launch Control Center. This was the view of the adjacent Vehicle Assembly Building as we went inside the LCC.
Some panels are lighter than others. Those are panels that replaced ones lost during the 2004 hurricanes. Since then, the VAB has been repainted.
From the National Weather Service in Melbourne FL about an hour ago ... That 115°F (46°C) on the #SpaceCoast is right about where we live. Note the 122°F (50° C) near West Palm Beach.
@MLClark Some local flavor for you ... A destroyed Vehicle Assembly Building is off-frame to the left. I've told management, if you ever paint over the Face Melter 9000, I'm going elsewhere. 😊
NWS Melbourne just posted this. The heat advisory extends at least through Tuesday.
