"Flopnik" and similar headlines after the Vanguard TV-3 failure, 65 years ago today. Its failure led to congressional hearings that eventually created #NASA .
A #SpaceCoast icon is returning to #CapeCanaveral! #MoonHut was a popular stop for space workers and astronauts from 1965 for the next 50 years. It became a Mexican restaurant in 2005 until 2020. New owners are bringing back the original name, but no idea what the menu will be. No online presence yet I can find. #NASA
August 28, 1993 was the 30th anniversary of the civil rights march in DC. I happened to be in town on business, and filmed the anniversary march. It was a massive exercise in 1st Amendment rights, from NAACP to UAW to Nation of Islam. The video runs about 30 minutes.

The closest thing the #SpaceCoast had to a community newspaper in 1963 was the Cocoa Tribune, which published in the evening. This is their front page the evening of the #JFK assassination, November 22, 1963. (Cocoa Tribune was later absorbed into what became Florida Today.)
Our #SpaceCoast newspaper, Florida Today, didn't exist in 1963. The closest major newspaper was the Orlando Sentinel. This is their front page the day after the #JFK assassination.
