@Astro_yyz My book has a chapter about Bill Nelson's early political career in Florida. I may post an excerpt on SpaceKSC.com as a glimpse of things to come. I discovered much good -- and bad -- about his political career through 1990.
@WordsmithFL Interesting blog post. Took me down memory lane. hydrogen leaks, yeah.... i flew down from Toronto to try to see sts-127 launch ... twice... but never did see her fly partly due to hydrogen leaks.
As for SLS, seeing Bill Nelson doing that presentation in 2011 reminds me that, since he is now NASA's head, that the US is probably stuck with the whole messy shebang for now. Your comment about the fox running the hen house is spot on (from my outside perspective).
